Cricket is also played at various clubs in The Netherlands. The season starts in the spring and is played all summer long. For the game you need a large playing field, with a playing strip of grass or other surface in the middle. On the short sides of that strip three sticks are placed, called: the wicket. From one side of that strip, one player of the fielding side throws the ball (bowling) to the batter of the opposing team who take stands at the other side of the strip. The batter hits the ball and runs between the wickets located at both ends of the strip to score points. The points scored are called runs. The batter must also ensure that the wicket is not knocked over by the bowler of the fielding side. If the field player catches the ball or the wicket is knock down by the fielding side before the hitter reaches the other end of the strip, the batter is "out." If all the players have batted, teams switch ( the fielding side become the battings side and vice versa) The team with the most runs scored wins the match. You can also play cricket indoors in wintertime.
